'Montreal, the Seat of Lord Amherst', 1777. Montreal Park at Sevenoaks in Kent, was the seat of Jeffrey Amherst, 1st Baron Amherst (1717-1797). Amherst captured Montreal from the French, hence he named his home Montreal Park.
