'The Interior of the Mosque of Santa Sophia, Constantinople', Turkey, 19th century. Hagia Sophia, also known as the Church of the Holy Wisdom, is the most famous Byzantine structure in Constantinople (now Istanbul). Built between 532 and 537 AD by Emperor Justinian I, it was a mosque for a time, and is now a museum.
