Pope Sixtus II gives church treasure to St Laurence who distributes alms to the poor, mid 15th century. St Sixtus II (d258), was elected Pope in 257 and martyred in 258 under Valerian's persecution. St Laurence (d258), saint and martyr, was Deacon of the Christian church in Rome. Under the persecution of Valerian he was condemned to death by being broiled. Fresco in the Chapel of Nicholas V, Vatican, Rome, dedicated to St Stephen and St Laurence.
