A letter written from Liskeard in Cornwall by King Charles I of England, Scotland, and Ireland (1600-1649) on 2 August 1644, revealing his intention to confer the order of the garter on the Earl of Worcester. Charles was beheaded in 1649, having been found guilty of a being tyrant, a murderer, and an enemy of the nation.
