Arc de Triomphe, Paris, c1900. One of the Parisian triumphal arches designed in Neoclassical style to recall the monumental architecture of Ancient Rome, the Arc de Triomphe was commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to commemorate his victory at the Battle of Austerlitz. It was finally completed in the 1830s.
