Pierre Carlet de Chamblain de Marivaux, French novelist and dramatist, (1815). Marivaux (1688-1763) was one of the most important French playwrights of the 18th century. He wrote many comedies for the Comedie Francaise. His most important works are Le Jeu de l'Amour et du Hasard, and Les Fausses Confidences.
