Religious or household vessel, 15th century, (1843). This object may be a cibory or reliquary, in which were placed the sacred relics, and which was sometimes used for the same purpose as the pix. The cup has an ornamental mounting of gilt; the cup itself appears to be of glass. Illustration from Dresses and Decorations of the Middle Ages from the Seventh to the Seventeenth Centuries, by Henry Shaw, (London, 1843).
