Bracket to support an hourglass, 1636, (1843). In the 19th century, this iron bracket, made in 1636, was still affixed to the pulpit of the church at Hurst in Berkshire. The quote as this Glasse runneth, so man's life Passeth, alludes to the transience of existence.
