'Left Luggage', 1876. Disraeli, the Conservative Prime Minister, stands with all his luggage on a railway platform. As the current session of parliament came to an end for the Summer Recess, Disraeli is shown surrounded by all his unfinished business. However, by the time parliament re-assembled in the autumn, Disraeli had moved to the House of Lords after accepting the title of the Earl of Beaconsfield. This is illustrated by the box entitled 'Royal Title' that he is holding. He was succeeded as Leader of the Conservative Party in the House of Commons by Sir Stafford Northcote.
