'The Floods in the Country', 1877. Floods had caused major problems in the country with nearly six inches of rain falling in December 1876 alone, only to be followed by severe storms in January 1877. The gentleman, who had ordered a 'dwy' sherry, was told it was impossible to keep anything dry in two feet of water. From Punch, or the London Charivari, February 3, 1877.
