"A Lion in the Path!", 1882. The British Lion is prepared to protect British interests. A nationalist uprising in Egypt had been led by Colonel Arabi in protest against European influence in Egyptian affairs. In June 1882, many Europeans died during riots in Alexandria. On the 11th July 1882, the British fleet went into action, whilst the French fleet refused to cooperate. One of the key concerns of the British was to preserve the security of the Suez Canal.
