The crew of the first aircraft to shoot down another aeroplane, 1914. Flight-Sergeant Joseph Frantz, a French army pilot, and his mechanic Louis Quenault who, on 5 October 1914 shot down a German Aviatik from their Voisin biplane, claiming the first victory in aerial combat.
