Wreckage of aeroplane in which British pilot Flight-Lieutenant Warneford was killed, 1915. Flight-Lieutenant Rex Warneford was the first Royal Naval Air Service pilot to be awarded the Victoria Cross, for shooting down Zeppelin LZ 37 over Belgium on 7 June 1915. Ten days later he was killed when his Farman aeroplane crashed near Paris.
