Shelter built by the glaciologist Louis Agassiz, Aar glacier, Switzerland, 1842 (1885). Agassiz's studies of glaciers in the Alps led him to be the first to propose the theory that the Earth had been subjected to Ice Ages. He built this shelter, beside the edge of the Aar glacier during his 1842 expedition. From Louis Agassiz: His Life and Correspondence by Elizabeth Cary Agassiz. (Boston, 1885).
