Jezebel, Phoenician princess and wife of King Ahab of Israel, 1866. Jezebel, a pagan, is described in the Bible as having turned Ahab away from the true God. After the death of Ahab, she continued to rule through her sons, until they were defeated and killed by Jehu. Here Jezebel is being thrown out of a window on the orders of Jehu after which her body was eaten by dogs. From the Bible (2 Kings 9.33).
