George Murray (1772-1846), Scottish general and statesman, 1831. After a distinguished military career in the Napoleonic Wars, Murray was appointed Lieutenant-General of Upper Canada in 1815. He entered politics in 1823, and served as Secretary of State for the Colonies in 1828-1830.
