April, 1412-1416. Planetary figure of the Sun in his chariot, and zodiac figures of Aries (Ram) and Taurus (Bull) at the top. The Duc de Berry wearing a blue robe (left) with ladies and attendants in the open air. In front of a chateau boatmen net fish in a dammed pond. Pollarded trees, a plantation and walled garden can be seen. From Les Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, a book of hours produced for Jean, Duke of Berry by the Limbourg brothers. It is regarded as one of the finest examples of European manuscript illumination. From the Musee Condee, Chantilly, France.
