Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, King and Queen of France, 1795. Nativity's of birth charts of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, showing a profile portrait of each, the Palace of the Tuileries, and the guillotine. After the monarchy was overthrown by the French Revolution in 1789, Louis, Marie Antoinette and their children were imprisoned in the Tuileries. In 1791 they tried, unsuccessfully to escape from France. Louis was tried and convicted of treason and was executed by guillotine on 21 January 1793. The same fate befell Marie Antoinette on 16 October 1793.
