Constancy of the Jews in captivity in Babylon, 6th century BC (c1860). 'By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept when we remembered Zion'. Chromolithograph c1860. The Jews were made captive in Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar II (Nebuchadrezzar) from 597 BC until released in 537 BC after Cyrus of Persia conquered the Babylonians. From the Bible (Psalm 137).
