Wall painting from the tomb of the scribe Menna, Thebes, Ancient Egyptian, 18th dynasty, c1419-1380 BC. Scene of the Vendage: picking grapes in a vineyard (right) and treading grapes (left). At top centre are amphora-shaped ceramic wine vessels. Menna was a scribe to the pharaohs Tuthmosis IV and Amenhotep III. Many of the paintings on the walls of his tomb depict farming scenes, indicating that his official duties related to the administration of agriculture.
