'Interior of Haddon Hall', 19th century. Painting by Laslett John Pott (1837-1898), British history painter, showing Haddon Hall near Bakewell, Derbyshire, in Elizabethan times. Construction of Haddon Hall began in medieval times. Since 1567, when Dorothy, wife of John Manners, inherited her father Sir George Vernon's estate, it has belonged to the Manners family, Dukes of Rutland.
