Death of General Montgomery at Quebec, December 1775. Irish-born soldier Richard Montgomery (1737-1775) fought in the British army in the Seven Years War. In 1772 he sold his commission and moved to America. Montgomery fought against the British in the American Revolutionary War, and as a Brigadier-General, led an assault on Quebec in which he was killed.
