Gold and lapis lazuli funerary mask of Tutankamun, King of Egypt, mid 14th century BC. Tutankhamun came to the throne as a young boy in 1333 BC. Although he only ruled for 10 years Tutankhamun is one of the best known Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs due to the fabulous treasures discovered when British archaeologist Howard Carter opened his tomb in 1922.
