Bust of Seleucus I Nicator, Macedonian general, c4th-3rd century BC. Seleucus (c358-280 BC) accompanied Alexander the Great on his conquests. After the partition of Alexander's empire after his death, Seleucus ruled the Babylonian satrapy, founding the Seleucid dynasty.
