Battle of Reichshoffen, Franco-Prussian war, 6th August 1870. Charge of the French 8th and 9th cuirassiers. The Battle of Reichshoffen (Battle of Worth), the first major engagement of the war, ended in a defeat for the French, with 700 cuirassiers killed by close range fire in a counter-attack on the village of Morsbronn.
