Conversion of Witikind, 785 AD, (19th century). The Saxon leader Witikind (or Wittekind), resisted Emperor Charlemagne for a long time before finally submitting. He was baptised c785 AD, and according to myth he rode a black horse before his baptism and a white horse afterwards.
