Wilson's cloud chamber, c1927. Charles Thompson Rees Wilson (1869-1959), Scottish nuclear and atomic physicist, was award the 1927 Nobel prize for Physics for the invention of his cloud chamber, used for the study of radioactivity, X-rays, cosmic rays, and various muclear phenomena.
