House where Marie Curie was governess, c1887. Before leaving her native Poland to go to Paris in 1891 to study mathematics, physics and chemistry, for three years from 1886 Manya Sklodowska (Marie Curie) (1867-1934) was employed as a governess by the Szczuki family.
