Battle of St Denis, French Religious Wars, 10 November 1567 (1570). The battle was fought between the Huguenots under Louis, Prince de Conde (1530-1569) and the Catholic royal army commanded by Anne de Montmorency (1493-1567). Montmorency was mortally wounded in the battle, but the Huguenots were defeated. The French Religious Wars between the Catholics and the Protestant Huguenots took place between 1562 and 1598. The conflict ended when Henry IV issued the Edict of Nantes, granting Protestants and Catholics equal rights.
