Siege of Zaragosa, Spain, Peninsular War, 1808 (c1822-c1870). Maria Augustin, the Maid of Sarogossa, encouraging fellow her fellow citizens to re-man a battery and resume firing on the French besiegers under General Lefebre. Her role in the siege is immortalised in Byron's Childe Harold. After David Wilkie's painting 'The Maid of Saragossa'.
