Siege of Zaragoza, Peninsular War, 16 June-13 August 1808. Maria Augustin, the Maid of Sarogossa, encouraging fellow her fellow citizens to re-man a battery and resume firing on the French besiegers under General Lefebre. Her role in the siege is immortalised in Byron's Childe Harold.
