Armour Company's pig slaughterhouse, Chicago, Illinois, USA, 1892. One of the earliest production lines. Pigs walked up a ramp to the top of the building, then were processed before emerging as finished carcasses. This stage of the process involved the mechanical de-bristling of the carcasses after they had been scalded.
