The Duke of Wellington at the taking of Ciudad Rodrigo, Spain, Peninsular War, 1812 (c1818). The French tricolour is pulled down and the Union Jack run up the flagpole in its place. The British laid siege to the French held fortress of Ciudad Rodrigo from 8-19 January 1812.
