Chapel on board the prison hulk 'Warrior' at Woolwich, London, 1848. This hulk held 600 and was an intermediate confinement between an ordinary gaol or transportation. Prisoners were used as labourers in the naval dockyards. Hulks (tenders) were usually old naval vessels that were no longer seaworthy. From The Illustrated London News, 1848.
