Crinan Canal at Lochgilphead, Scotland, 1891. Opened in 1801, the Crinan Canal linked Loch Fyne to the Atlantic. It was designed by the Scottish civil engineer John Rennie (1761-1821), and renovations were carried out by Thomas Telford (1757-1834).
