Façade of Lime Street Station, Liverpool, 1838. This was one of the stations on the world's first passenger railway, the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, which opened on 15 September 1830. The principal engineer of the railway was George Stephenson (1781-1848). From The Mirror of Literature, Amusement, and Instruction. (London, 1838).
