'The Great Fire of London, 1666', (c1675). View looking towards the west facade of old St Paul's Cathedral, seen from Blackfriars, slightly south of Ludgate. On the right are the ruins of St Anne's, Blackfriars. People in the foreground gather their positions and prepare to flee in the face of the advancing flames which have already engulfed Ludgate on the left, one of the gates of the city of London.
