'A London Crossing Sweeper and Flower Girl', 1884. A young boy with a broom has stopped for something to eat, and also seems to have matches for sale. The flower girl offers posies for sale. The scene is the north end of Blackfriars Bridge at night. This work over-sentimentalises the London street urchins and suggests nothing of the actual poverty and degradation in which they lived and worked.
