Model of a Roman port on Lower Thames Street, London, c100 AD. This model is based on archaeological excavations of the area and shows the development of London ports during the Roman period. A new quay has been constructed, replacing the old wooden one, and goods are unloaded from the ship and stored in warehouses along the banks of the River Thames. Shops, workshops and inns serve the river as well as the rest of London, and on the left can be seen the wooden bridge connecting the north and south of the city.
