Lord Mayor of London's coach, 1757. This gilt coach is a masterpiece; it was designed by Sir Robert Taylor and completed by different artisans including carvers, gilders and painters. The allegorical painted panels depicting London's commercial activities have been attributed to Giovanni Battista Cipriani. It was commissioned in 1757 and inaugurated the same year for the Lord Mayor's Parade. It remains the property of the Corporation of London and still leaves the museum every year for the Parade procession.
