A Late Saxon/Norman woman's skeletal feet, 11th-12th century. Her toes have visible nodules or bony outgrowths, called arthrosis, probably from repeated bruising and badly fitted shoes. The bones of two toes are also fused. The woman was buried in the Norman cemetery of St Nicholas Shambles.
