A corset advertisement, 1891. Two women wearing the Harness electric corset, one tying the bodice of the other. Patented in 1891, the battery-driven electric corset claimed not only to produce an elegant figure, but also to 'exercise a most beneficial influence upon respiratory and other organs', and to remedy debilities such as rheumatism, neuralgia and indigestion.
