Arch outside the main entrance to Euston Station, Camden, London, 1952. Designed by Philip Hardwick, the arch, the largest Greek propylaeum ever built, was completed in 1837. Generally considered the first monument to the railway age, the arch acted as the gateway to the first railway terminus built in London. The arch was demolished in 1961 when the station was redeveloped.
