The frontispiece to Dr Brook Taylor's Perspective of Architecture, 1760. A cherub sits on the edge of a lake with a book on its lap, which refers to the architecture of Palladio. A shaft of light from over the hill shines past him and onto an architectural drawing. By the cherub's feet is a protractor and ruler. On the edge of the lake is a neoclassical temple. On the right is a partial fluted column decorated with a crown and feathers.
