Bristol suffragettes raising money during Self-Denial Week, 1910. From left to right: Edith West, Mary Allen, Miss Staniland, Elsie Howey and Mrs Dove-Willcox. Whist drives, door-to-door and street collections, making marmalade and donating jewels were some of the ways in which WSPU members raised funds for 'The War Chest' (the campaign fund).
