Mourning card and memento of Sir Joshua Reynolds, 1792. The card was issued in thanks to those who attended the painter's funeral to pay their respects. It was held at St Paul's Cathedral, London. A grieving woman leans on Reynold's Classical tomb which is decorated with a palette and brushes. A cherub stands at her feet, next to the extinguished torch symbolising death. Superimposed is a memento with a pearl frame showing an urn, with the inscription 'In Memory of a Friend'.
