Sir Herbert Austin in an Austin Seven, 1922. In the 1920s the Austin Seven was launched, popularly known as the baby Austin, which greatly influenced British and European light-car design. Austin was founder of the Austin Motor Company in 1905. By 1914 Austin was producing a thousand cars a year.
