Robert Bosch. In 1886 he opened a workshop repairing electrical equipment, after having trained as a precision mechanic. In 1897 he devised a new ignition system which he demonstrated to Daimler. By 1902 his company was manufacturing car accessories such as starters, generators and horns. The Bosch ignition system was exported all over the world and by 1914 nearly all the larger car companies were clients of Bosch.
