Froilan Gonzalez driving a Ferrari, early 1950s. Nicknamed the 'Bull of the Pampas' Jose Froilan Gonzalez had the unusual distinction of winning the first Championship Grand Prix he entered, the 1951 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, in which he drove a Ferrari. He won again at Silverstone in 1954, but after a serious sportscar accident practising for the Tourist Trophy, he only appeared in one Grand Prix outside his native Argentina after 1954. Sharing a Ferrari with Maurice Trintignant, Gonzalez also won the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1954.
