Emile Levassor in a Panhard-Levassor, c1890-c1895. Levassor is in the driver's seat, with a passenger, on the Paris-Rouen run. Levassor, together with Rene Panhard established the present design of cars, with the engine in front. The design came to be known as the Systeme Panhard, and was the forerunner of the modern cars.
